What is Baptism?

Baptism is a public act of obedience that proclaims God’s story of redemption in our lives. In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus declares a vision to see all nations baptized as we become his disciples.

Whether you’ve been following Jesus for a decade or for a minute, you are invited to get baptized!

What is
Covenant Community?

Being a follower of Jesus Christ means being a part of His community of followers, known as the church. Covenant Community is The Meeting Place’s spiritual and practical means of living out commitment to spiritual formation, community and care, mission, accountability, financial giving, leadership, and decision-making.

Being part of the Covenant Community isn’t just about being ‘a member’ or having your name in a database. It’s our way of saying “count me in on a great mission.” As part of the Covenant Community we’re not spectators; we get involved and learn to use our gifts, talents and abilities. We commit to learn how to sacrifice, give generously, and make a meaningful difference in our friendships, city, and world. In being part of the Covenant Community we affirm that we hold to similar values and beliefs. It ensures that we truly advance the cause of Jesus Christ in a unified way. As an active, inter-connected family, we promise to keep growing and striving to live by shared values in community and accountability.

What does the Bible say about Covenant Community?

The Bible teaches that the very moment we believe in Jesus as our Lord and Saviour we become members of the universal church, known as the Body of Christ. If you are a Christ-follower, you are already an eternal member {1 Corinthians 12:12-13; Ephesians 2:13-22; 4:3-6}. The Bible also instructs that all Christians are to be deeply involved as serving participants in a local church community {Romans 12:4-8; 1 Corinthians 12:25-31; 1 Timothy 3:14-15}.

How can I become part of Covenant Community?

If you have been previously baptized upon confession of faith in Jesus, faithfully attend The Meeting Place, support and share the vision and mission of The Meeting Place, agree with the Mennonite Brethren Confession of Faith, and are ready to commit to the covenant of The Meeting Place, please fill out our Covenant Community form.

For individuals who are being mentored for baptism upon confession of their faith in Jesus, the preparation process includes understanding and committing to being part of the Covenant Community.

Whether previously baptized or currently preparing for baptism, everyone who applies participates in a conversation with a TMP Elder.
